Solution Tree Promising Practice recognition

Dear Eagle Canyon Parents,

Happy National Spread Joy Day! Celebrate the day by doing something nice for a family member or friend. They will appreciate it, and your heart will be happier for your random act of kindness. 🩷

On Monday, Eagle Canyon was recognized as a Promising Practices School for our work with Professional Learning Communities. We are very proud of this recognition and look forward to witnessing our students' growth as a result.

Wow! The Halloween Haul competition is growing at Eagle Canyon. On Friday, the PTA collected 183 bags of candy. There are still two more Fridays to turn in candy. Thanks to your generosity, our students will have the best Trunk or Treat ever.

The class that brings the most will earn a pizza party. It looks like Mrs. Summerford's class stayed in the lead this week. Check out the results below.

If you are interested in signing up for Trunk or Treat, spaces are going quickly. Each participating car gets one free ticket to the Fall Family Festival.

Saturday School

Next Saturday, October 17, we are hosting our first Saturday School. If your child received an invitation, please RSVP as soon as possible to ensure we have enough teachers to keep the groups smaller.

Fall Family Festival

Tickets for the Fall Family Festival are on sale. Take advantage of the Early Bird prices. Ticket prices will increase on October 19.

Before and After School Tutoring

Letters were sent home to EL families in grades 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 regarding Before- or After-school tutoring. We will invite more grade levels as we see how many students sign up for these opportunities.

Some fifth and sixth-graders also received invitations to participate in math tutoring.

Traffic Reminders - Updated 9/26/2026

I am sorry that I have not been as available to support the traffic at arrival and dismissal. I appreciate our families who are working together to ensure everyone arrives and goes home safely.

Recently, I have been made aware of concerns in the neighborhood across from Eagle Canyon. The neighbors are feeling frustrated and are ready to contact the authorities to have vehicles towed.

As a reminder, we want to treat people the way we want to be treated. Please avoid blocking driveways or parking in front of trash cans. I have had reports that the trash truck cannot empty trash cans because vehicles are double-parking in front of them.

I appreciate your help in maintaining positive relationships with all of our neighbors.

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will continue to be a focus this year. School attendance leads to better performance in adulthood.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss essential instruction, and it takes a while to catch up. Parents of students at risk of chronic absenteeism must meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mr. Fellows to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We met our district attendance goal by 0.68%.🎉 We met our goal on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please continue to make attendance a priority.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ON THE MARQUEE

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.

October Character Trait

Each month, Eagle Canyon will focus on teaching students about a character trait. We will share it during our Monday Morning Rallies, and teachers will reinforce it by recognizing one student each month for a monthly award.

SUPPORT EAGLE CANYON

A popular fundraising opportunity that all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. You must scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of purchasing. The app will let you know if any purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are no items, you will still have an opportunity to enter the sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.

As of today, our school has earned $91.80 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,500. Congratulations, 2nd grade! You have turned in 244 Box Tops this year. Be sure to select the grade level that you want to support. Thank you in advance for your support!

Staff Shout-Out

The Eagle Canyon staff is committed to providing a positive school culture where we all work together to create a positive learning environment for our students. It begins when families walk onto our campus for the first time and continues each and every day. Take a moment to recognize a staff member's outstanding dedication and hard work. Your shout out will be featured in the staff newsletter for the whole staff to see. It may also be read during the Monday Morning Rally.
