Diamond award for Chino Tiered Systems of Support

Dear Eagle Canyon Parents,

Happy National Cinnamon Roll Day and Get Out N Drive Day! Who makes the best cinnamon rolls? Cinnabon or your mom? I might have to "Get Out N Drive" to Cinnabon to celebrate October 4. 😀

Thank you to all the parents and students who met with the teachers for Parent-Teacher Conferences. It is important for parents and teachers to work together to ensure our students work to their potential. A couple of ways you can help your child are to have them read every day 📖and to practice math fluency. ➕➖ If they are in the primary grades, they should be practicing adding and subtracting, and if they are in grades 3-6, they should be practicing their multiplication and division facts. ✖️➗ Being fluent in these skills will help them tackle the more difficult math concepts they will encounter throughout their school careers.

I would also like to thank the families who have donated to the Halloween Haul for the Fall Family Festival. Mrs. Jurado, our PTA Treasurer, and our Candy Monster stopped by each class to collect the donations on Friday. You can see the results below. Mrs. Summerford's class is in the lead with 5 bags. The class that brings the most will earn a pizza party.

If you are interested in signing up for Trunk or Treat, spaces are going quickly. We are down to 10 spots left. Each participating car gets one free ticket to the Fall Family Festival.

Important Reminders

Fall Family Festival

The Fall Family Festival is in less than a month. If you are interested in participating in the Trunk or Treat, sign up at the office. The Trunk or Treat is a success each year because of your support. When you are out shopping, please consider purchasing a bag of candy to be donated to the event.

Tickets for the Fall Family Festival are on sale. Take advantage of the Early Bird prices. Ticket prices will increase on October 19.

Before and After School Tutoring

Letters were sent home to EL families in grades 1, 2, 5, and 6 regarding Before- or After-school tutoring. We will invite more grade levels as we see how many students sign up for these opportunities.

Some fifth graders also received invitations to participate in math tutoring. We are planning to include sixth graders as space becomes available.

Thinkn Local Fundraiser

We are still raising money in the Thinkn Local fundraiser. As of today, we have raised $256.07, a little over halfway to our goal. Be sure to scan receipts when you shop or eat local. It could help our students.

Restaurant Family Night at The Stand

Take a night off from cooking and support the Eagle Canyon PTA on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. We hope to see you there!

Traffic Reminders - Updated 9/26/2026

I am sorry that I have not been as available to support the traffic at arrival and dismissal. I appreciate our families who are working together to ensure everyone arrives and goes home safely.

Recently, I have been made aware of concerns in the neighborhood across from Eagle Canyon. The neighbors are feeling frustrated and are ready to contact the authorities to have vehicles towed.

As a reminder, we want to treat people the way we want to be treated. Please avoid blocking driveways or parking in front of trash cans. I have had reports that the trash truck cannot empty trash cans because vehicles are double-parking in front of them.

I appreciate your help in maintaining positive relationships with all of our neighbors.

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will continue to be a focus this year. School attendance leads to better performance in adulthood.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss essential instruction, and it takes a while to catch up. Parents of students at risk of chronic absenteeism must meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mr. Fellows to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

We met our district attendance goal by 1.19%.🎉 We met our goal every day last week. Thank you for making attendance a priority. 🤩

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ON THE MARQUEE

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.

October Character Trait

Each month, Eagle Canyon will focus on teaching students about a character trait. We will share it during our Monday Morning Rallies, and teachers will reinforce it by recognizing one student each month for a monthly award.

SUPPORT EAGLE CANYON

A popular fundraising opportunity that all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. You must scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of purchasing. The app will let you know if any purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are no items, you will still have an opportunity to enter the sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.

As of today, our school has earned $87.70 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,500. Congratulations, 2nd grade! You have turned in 237 Box Tops this year. Be sure to select the grade level that you want to support. Thank you in advance for your support!

Staff Shout-Out

The Eagle Canyon staff is committed to providing a positive school culture where we all work together to create a positive learning environment for our students. It begins when families walk onto our campus for the first time and continues each and every day. Take a moment to recognize a staff member's outstanding dedication and hard work. Your shout out will be featured in the staff newsletter for the whole staff to see. It may also be read during the Monday Morning Rally.
