Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update

Dear Eagle Canyon Families,

Welcome to the first week of the 2026-27 school year! The teachers and staff have been working hard to get the classrooms and campus ready for your children to kick off the school year. We hope you are as excited as we are.

Our theme this year is "Passport to Learning." The students will each receive an Eagle Canyon passport, where they will learn about different countries and character traits. They will earn "stamps" (stickers) after learning about the country and character trait. They will also earn "stamps" for perfect attendance, trimester awards, and various achievements. We hope this becomes a fun keepsake for them at the end of the year.

We have new staff members who have joined the Eagle Canyon team. Please help us welcome the following people:

  • Jeremiah Fellows - Assistant Principal
  • Kayla Valente - School Psychologist
  • Rigoberto Orozco - Music Teacher
  • Esther Senga - Speech Pathologist
They are learning quickly about how amazing the community is!

I would like to thank all the families who participated in our annual Meet Your Teacher event on Friday. The energy on our campus was amazing!

If you have not been to Eagle Canyon lately, you will notice we have made some improvements. Our parking lot and blacktop were torn out and replaced over the summer. We also added some wayfinding signage to help people find the main office and the MPR. Finally, we added signage on the MPR to highlight our successes. We hope you like the updates!

Traffic Reminders

Traffic before school and after school can be heavy. Please plan to leave your house early to avoid the rush.

Bus Gate/Eagle Canyon Drive
This is a loading/unloading zone only. Please do not park where there is a yellow curb. You could be at risk of receiving a ticket from a San Bernardino Sheriff's Deputy.

Parking Lot
Students are not allowed to walk in the parking lot without an adult. Please do not ask them or an older sibling to walk to your car. You must accompany them to ensure their safety.

Please drive in the parking lot with caution. When people are distracted while driving, they create unsafe environments for themselves, the students, and other vehicles in the parking lot.

U-Turns
U-turns are not allowed in front of Eagle Canyon Drive. If you make a U-turn, you risk getting a ticket from a Sheriff's Deputy. If you are in a hurry, continue to drive up Eagle Canyon Drive. There is an exit to Chino Ave. further up the street.

Eagle Canyon Apartments
Each year, I receive reports from parents of cars speeding through the Eagle Canyon Apartments. Please be mindful of our neighbors and the children who are walking home. We want everyone to get home safely.

Thank you!

Weeks 1 & 2 Bulletin

ATTEND TODAY, ACHIEVE TOMORROW

Eagle Canyon's student attendance will continue to be a focus this year. School attendance leads to better performance in adulthood.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on essential instruction, and it takes a while for them to catch up. Parents of students at risk of chronic absenteeism must meet with Mrs. Bearden or Mr. Fellows to sign an agreement to improve overall attendance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS ON THE MARQUEE

Another way you can support our PTA and celebrate your child's birthday is to purchase a birthday greeting for $25 that will be displayed on your child's birthday and run for one week. If interested, please stop by the office, complete the request, and submit the payment. Please be sure to plan. We need two weeks' notice before the birthday to ensure everything is timed correctly.

The kids get so excited seeing their birthday highlighted on the marquee. Out of safety, we will never publish your child's last name, only the initial.

The August character trait is courage. Courage isn't about failing; it's about getting back up every time life knocks you down. The emphasis is on perseverance, resilience, and refusing to give up.

August Character Trait

Each month, Eagle Canyon will focus on teaching students about a character trait. We will share it during our Monday Morning Rallies, and teachers will reinforce it by recognizing one student each month for a monthly award.

SUPPORT EAGLE CANYON

A popular fundraising opportunity that all families can support is Box Tops. Download the Box Top app on your phone. You must scan your receipts on the Box Top app within 14 days of purchasing. The app will let you know if any purchased items qualify to earn 10 cents per product. If there are no items, you will still have an opportunity to enter the sweepstakes to win 500 bonus Box Tops. Every receipt has the potential to earn our school money.

As of today, our school has earned $43.10 this year. Our goal is to earn $1,500. Be sure to select the grade level that you want to support. Thank you in advance for your support!

Staff Shout-Out

The Eagle Canyon staff is committed to providing a positive school culture where we all work together to create a positive learning environment for our students. It begins when families walk onto our campus for the first time and continues each and every day. Take a moment to recognize a staff member's outstanding dedication and hard work. Your shout out will be featured in the staff newsletter for the whole staff to see. It may also be read during the Monday Morning Rally.
